He should resign. As a univ.president he has significantly damaged his institution's image, it's ability to maintain fundraising and he has a total disregard for the core beliefs of his church, the Catholic Church and the core values of ND.

I find it outrageous and demeaning that a university such as ND caliber think it important and necessary to invite Obama to give the commencement speech to the graduating class. There wasn't anyone more worthy of this honor? As for Obama, his shameful and "in your face" attitude clearly shows how little he thinks of Catholics and his disrespectt for LIFE . ND parents, students, alumni -- the only thing that will reach those clowns in charge is through your pocket book. In other words, stop your finanacial support!

How did this happen in the first place? They should have never asked and he should have never asked - they both, Notre Dame and the president ,are self serving. Alot of Catholics voted for him and the dots never connected on that, either.

I think that the president should not be allowed to come and speak at this or any university because of his very liberal views and his inability to say any thing good about the United States as soon as he steps on foreign soil.

I'd rather see him removed by the Pope and sent to a 3rd world country for a minimum of one year to do penance by serving the poor and sick. This will give him time to refresh his memory of the Church's teachings and perhaps return to the US someone Catholics nationwide could be happy with.

My concern is that our President is trying to control his image in the Islamic world. His nightmare is that he is seen on Al Jazzera in a Christian setting. If he does not respect God how can he respect anything? How can we ever trust him? What American of any faith would ask that Christian images be covered? He is one step away from removing the Cross from the Church Steeple.

Right on brother....I don't think we can afford him for the next three years....thought we had cap and trade pretty well beat and he comes up with this EPA ruling and is now attempting to blackmail congress by saying pass cap and trade or we'll regulate business to death. I hope everyone will contact their congressman and ask them to vote NO to cap and trade and thereby diminish Obama's stature and force him to do something very publicly unpopular like EPA enforcement....that will give us more additional time to beat the EPA regulations and will be helpful that he is less popular....Congress has no "STONES" so everyone please contact them to urge them to stack up....

I really feel like that is up to Rome. However I doubt they will do anything about it, Father Flager is still around. If I were an alumni I would pull any finacial support as fast as I could. Personally I think it is a great time to protest the anti-christ by standing up and turning your back on him during his speech. I am very diappointed that Pope Benedict seems to have lost his enforcer status. Well in the end Christ wins. Touch Down Jesus!!!

Are you so naive that you don't know that Catholics are Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Libertarians, etc? Guess you're not Catholic and therefore cannot make arrive at an educated conclusion of this issue.

I am a Catholic who did not vote for Obama and I think Notre Dame should withdraw the invitation for Obama to speak. The University president is so out of touch , he should resign. Obama got his religious instruction for 20 years from the rev. Wright and it shows.

As a catholic from South Bend, I am ashamed that the Presdient of ND would even pupt the university in thius situation. Shame on him, Obama is out to CRUSH the catholic church. Look how he conducted himself so far.

YES, he should step down. Does he not realize that Mr. Obama is for abortion and against other Catholic teachings, i.e., having doctors and medical staff who do not believe in abortion, perform abortions or else.
also, are they going to cover up Our Lord, Saints and other Holy symbols so he can appear at ND and therefore have nothing to compete against him, as he believes he's above all else. They said that he didn't have anything to do with the Georgetown "coverup", but knowing this was a Catholic school wouldn't it make sense that there would some type of Holy display. But, than again, we are not a "Christian" nation as per Mr. Obama.

The President of Notre Dame should be excommunicated from the Catholic Church. By welcoming Obama and allowing him an honorary degree, this priest is telling the world; "Abortion is OK." Then I ask you what do you really stand for? If I was graduating this year at ND, I would not show up or when Mr. Obama begins to speak turn your b ack, read a newspaper or something, make a stand that you will not stand for baby killer speaking at your graduation.

If the University removes all the religious icons just for Obama, we should remove Fr. Jenkins from the University. Fr. Jenkins does not have our Christian morals and values. Resign Fr. Jenkins!!

Yes, Fr. Jenkins should leave Notre Dame. He needs to go on a retreat and remember that he is a catholic priest. He should pick up Georgetowns president on his way.

He should also remove all symbols of Jesus and Blessed Virgin Mary then replace it with Pres Obama, Michelle Obama, their children and Bo. Then rename the school Blessed Barack Obama University.
