25% of D.C. Snowplows out of Commission

WASHINGTON - As the region braces for another major storm, one local government is having trouble keeping their plows on the roads, WTOP has learned.

As many as 60 of the District's snow plows are not working -- bad news for thousands of residents still waiting for their streets to be cleared.

According to an internal email obtained by WTOP, 25 percent of the District's snow plow fleet is down and they're having trouble getting replacement parts.

D.C. is also now rationing their salt supply.

Dear God, this is bound to give Chris Matthews a "meltdown"! But isn't just about everything in DC "out of commission", with no hopes of getting replacement parts until 2010 and 2012!

Here's the thing... Do the operators know how to plow with the 75% that DO work? DC has no clue what to do with 6 inches of snow, let alone 2-4 feet of it. Maybe they need to visit Syracuse or Buffalo for a how to plow correctly lesson and then 25% of the plows won't be broken.

Maybe the city needs more of stimulus to fix/buy snowplows. Shuting down DC for a couple days is the best thing for our country--it limits further damage out elected clowns can do.

I bet it's more than 25%. With all the wear and tear that the snow removal equipment have been experiencing here in DC, all local municipalities are feeling the stress.
