'We Are Trying on Every Front to Increase the Role of Government'
Give Ed Schultz credit for something: on his MSNBC show this evening, he hosted an amusing smackdown between Barney Frank and Ralph Nader, perhaps the two most morose public men in America. For once, Barney was attacked from the left. The gist of Ralph's rebuke was that Frank hasn't gone far enough in regulating the financial industry. Frank was finally so provoked that he claimed/admitted that when it comes to regulation, Democrats are "trying on every front to increase the role of government." Read more here.

K Marx, that's not accurate. Ronald Regan generated more tax revenue, by cutting capitol gains tax, which stimulated the job growth and brought a lower interest rate. I remember paying 21 percent under Jimmy Carter's Presidency.
BTW Fox News is Number One and has more viewers than the NY Times sells in daily papers. Must be a reason why more people are watching Fox News than any other Network of Cable news programming.

They like war it makes them money. And while we are at it, While ndeed Reagan tripled the debt, it was Clinton's imaginary tech bubble bursting that started the recession prior to this one. It's really unfortunate, because the issue of financial reform is really more important than politics. I think that if you could put aside your hatred and loathing for democrats for a moment and step outside of that to really take the time to learn what caused the financial crisis, and I don't mean what Fox News tells you caused the crisis, we would agree on this issue. If you took the time to learn about Financial Derivatives, Collaterallized Debt Obligations, and Credit Default Swaps you would see were the banks were gaming the system, lying to each other and essentially gambling with our 401Ks and pensions. You would look what they did and say "Hey, that's not right." That's what I did when this whole financial mess started. I didn't get it from MSNBC or some other liberal group. I taught myself what all that meant and how it worked. And it's messed up, and the politicians aren't fixing it. Trust me, I don't think the Democrats are any less beholden to special interests or campaign financiers. But, the system needs to get fixed. It needs some regulation to prevent banks from gambling all their money away and then collapsing and dragging other financial institutions down with them and then requiring tax payer bailouts. Because, you're all right. We can't keeps spending that kind of money.
