These teabagging protests have nothing, NOTHING to do with taxes. They have to do with 2 things:
1- Bi-Partisanship under any circumstances, no matter how asinine the argument.
2- Anti-Intellectualism. Exactly as it reads; Being "against" the exercise of the intellect.
The second point is not to say that what the Obama admin is doing is the most well thought out plan, but the stimulus package itself is a moot point when considering the driving force behind the protests. Stupidity being the driving force. The stimulus package is just the means to an end. Angry protest being that end.
Obama could have suggested free puppies, tax free, to every household in the nation and there still would have been groups of idiots gathering in the streets.
The fact is that many Americans are undereducated, have no desire to further educate themselves and would much rather take Glen Beck's word for it than pick up a book and read about the subject they're being asked to protest. These Americans feel intellectually cornered when actually approached with a valid argument because they're so used to trading talking point cliches with one another over a beer at the bar that they don't ever expect to have to explain their point, which is non-existent.
If your point doesn't fit on a bumper sticker than it would take up too much of their time.
They often resort to hiding their ignorance behind such "safe" words as "family values" because they believe that as long as you can pretend that you're only trying to stick up for your family then you won't have to answer for your hatred and lack of factual knowledge.
They HATE liberals. Partly because they are being told to and partly because they feel that liberals represent the exact sort of intellectualism that they so fear. That hate is what's driving these protests.

umm alot of it dose have to do with fair tax. we need get rid of the loop holes that are in the current tax system. but besides that, are national debt is out of control. obama and the previous administration did not help it any. we need to start paying off the debt before are country goes bankrupt. not only that the bias media(like msnbc) and all the liberals that have to be politically correct about everything gets old.

When we talk, we babble. When we use the term "family values" we have no idea what we're talking about. I'm sure "Anonymous" must be one of those admired liberal educators injected into our schools by the movement of the radical '60's. We can now understand why our kids can't read, write, communicate, or engage in meaningful conversation--all they are taught is Liberal Socialism. Thanks, but no thanks, for the tedious analysis.

No doubt the work of yet another effete Canadian with a lingering bruise on their national ego, left by FOX taking jabs at their military. (How dare FOX denigrate a fighting force that in its finest moment stormed a beach at Normandy… carrying bicycles?!!) To call America a nation of whining cowards in light of Canada’s display of over-indulgent collective bed-wetting regarding those comments is at the least comical. In reality, it is delusional. I could take the time to explain to you what the protests were about, but much like a Canadian based NHL team playing for the Stanley Cup, you’d never get it and you never will. (If you think “education†is being funded, perhaps you also believe that calling Subway “Subway Canada†makes it any less American?) If the world chooses to laugh at us for not wanting to pay taxes or wanting to have our children saddled with a staggering debt all to fund dubious projects and thinly-veneered political paybacks then so be it. Just remember that the laughter goes both ways my friend.

Do you think the top 5% can be taxed enough to pay for national health care, the outrageously moronic GREEN program, and his Civil Service "Volunteer" force (translation: brown shirts), as well as his enormous education program? This, of course, is on top of the massive accumulated $TRILLION bailouts, stimulus, & INTEREST on all of the above. I agree that the whole world is laughing at us. This is another one of those pesky things in BoR and/or Constitution that Liberals/Progressives ignore: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
To this bunch in power, free speech means only free Liberal/Progressive speech and anyone the expresses an opposing view is an extremist and must be silenced.
