That legislation will establish a Consumer Financial Protection Agency with the authority to examine, supervise and enforce consumer financial protection laws.

The newly created agency would have jurisdiction over mortgages, credit cards, student loans and auto loans.

Congress cut the public funding of the fraud-infested ACORN, the House Committee on Financial Services has actually approved an amendment that will give the Chicago-based group ..ACORN... a role in setting regulations for the country’s financial institutions.

Maxine Waters has actually given MORE power to ACORN in making them part of the NEW agency to OVERSEE this.

They feel they are above the law, and unless we show them different in the upcoming elections, they may as well be.

And the founders of A.C.O.R.N. aren't stupid either...they'll just change the name of their organization to something else and skip merrily off with out tax dollars.

The corruption is just as rampant in the Republican party. Remember back to why they lost the majority in 2006. If the same Republican members are still in D.C., what makes you think they'll have turned over a new leaf if they regain at least one of the houses of Congress next year. We need to end the two party system and demand term limits. Then look at the salary and benefit structure of the members of Congress. If they are WORKING less than 5 days a week, then their salaries should reflect part-time pay with no benefits. Just putting in time but not reading or writing any bills doesn't count as WORKING. PART TIME PAY FOR PART TIME HOURS.

uh...they have the same problem understanding, illegal (as in imigration, drugs, kick-backs, etc)
There was a time in the past where the Govt didn't even own land to sale to forign countries, they were stewards of "our" land. It seams that a lawer's first duty is to see how to break or ignore the law as they believe it does or does not apply to them. In my state they went as far as to pass legislature that allows lawyers to lie in court if it is deamed to be benificial to their client. Maby Vice President Cheney had the right idea about lawyers.
